Hypnosis, or hypnotic trance, is a natural state, like daydreaming. We go in and out of similar states many times a day. In hypnotherapy, we use this focused state of attention to help you make the changes you want to make in your life.
Even when hypnotised, you are in control and cannot be made to do anything you don't want to do. You can speak and move, although sometimes it feels as if it's just too much effort to do so! Our bodies like to relax, it's one of the ways our nervous system deals with stress.
